HOW IT WORKS

Submission
We don't take reservations. When you’re ready, submit and pay for your text. Everything takes place online. Click the red “Send us your paper” button in the top right. Uploading your document will allow you to preview your fee.

Processing
After submission, look for a confirmation email. The email is your receipt, and it means we’ll be assigning an editor to your text shortly.

Proofreading & Editing
Your editor turns on the Microsoft Word tool “Track Changes”. This tool will make it easy for you to identify and review all changes. Your editor performs a complete read-through. The editor will concentrate on proofreading (e.g. grammar, spelling, capitalisation errors, typos, formatting, and consistency). The editor will also work on editing (e.g. syntax, text flow, and internal paragraph organisation). Comments will be placed to indicate sentences that you’ll need to review for accuracy to your intended meaning.

Quality Control
A lead editor will perform a final Quality Control review. This review ensures that the text is up to Red Pen Bristol’s standards.

Return
We’ll return your reviewed text via email. You’ll see one Word document attached: Your original document with all edits visible through Track Changes. To obtain a “clean” copy, you will need to "accept" the changes in the document; in most versions of Word, this is very easily done by clicking Review > Accept > Accept all changes in document. The editor’s comments should ideally be addressed one by one afterwards.
