FAQ
If there is information you need that is not available here, please submit your question using the form to the left. We will respond with an answer within 10 hours.
When we proofread, we use a Microsoft tool called “Track Changes.” For more information, please see the blog entitled “Track Changes ‘How To?’” This is located in the Samples & Blog section. It will show you how to remove all the red marks and blue comments.
Primarily, we edit texts for international graduate students. These include dissertations, theses, and research proposals, as well as essays, reports, group projects, literature reviews, and minor coursework assignments. We also edit many application materials, from those meant for universities (personal statements, university application responses, CVs) to those meant for employment (cover letters, resumes, application essay questions). Our editors also include creative writers, who offer intelligent, informed feedback on such items as short stories, reflection pieces, and poetry.
Alphabetically, the main subjects of the texts we read include: Art History, Biology, Business, Education, Engineering, Environmental Science, Management, Psychology, and Sociology. Whatever the subject of your essay, the basic elements of strong writing will always apply. Every student can benefit greatly from having his or her text proofread before submission.
No. Universities allow, and many actively encourage, a third party to proofread students’ work. Although university writing labs and support services are helpful, they are often overworked, overbooked, and understaffed. They can only give you a limited amount of time and attention. Red Pen Bristol will read your full essay in its entirety and give you both proofreading and editing feedback throughout. We will never write anything for you; all our work starts with your drafts and your ideas. Plagiarism could greatly endanger both your reputation and ours. We do not support or condone it.
No. That would be plagiarism, or cheating, in other words. Red Pen Bristol was founded by a professor and a graduate student, and is now staffed by individuals with the same sincere interest in student welfare. If you are struggling, we are happy to discuss proofreading and editing a draft or outline. However, we will never write new passages for you.
Red Pen Bristol will email your proofread and edited text to you upon completion. The text will be attached to the email as a Word document. It will be emailed to the address you entered in the site upon paying for your order.
We can edit in both. If you do not specify which English you prefer, we will correct inconsistencies according to which form you have used the most in your text. If there are inconsistencies and it is still not clear which form you tend toward, we will correct to UK English.
Our standard return time for any order is 2 to 3 days. If you need a text returned in 36 hours, you can choose the RUSH option on the "Send Us Your Paper" page. There is a 50% additional fee for any rush order. If you need a text returned in less than 24 hours, email us directly at customer@redpenbristol.com and we will respond as immediately as possible.
Absolutely. Our website is always available to accept submissions. The moment you pay for your order, the two to three day countdown begins, even if it’s 3am on a Sunday night. We work 24/7 on all 365 days of the year.
Debit card, Credit card, and PayPal will all work. You can pay with any one of those through our website when you are ready to submit your work.
We run discounts at regular intervals throughout the year. If you are a member of our social network (Facebook, Twitter, Weibo, RenRen) or if you are registered with our website here, then you will receive emails updating you about special promotions and discount periods.
