While the cost of living in the UK is
probably higher than it should be, one of the best things about living there is
dirt cheap travel. With £30 and a couple of hours, you can be in Madrid,
Paris, or Amsterdam. We’ve made a list of our favourite must-see European
destinations for exchange students living in the UK!
1.
Barcelona – Spain’s second city is home to almost 2
million people, and welcomes tourists from all over the world. Often coined “Gaudi’s
greatest unfinished work”, the city is teaming with culture, from the Sagrada
Familia church to the beautiful Parc Gruell, there’s plenty to see and do. If
you’re looking for something not so artsy, the nightlife is also incredible, and
the city has one of the best beaches in Europe!
2.
Amsterdam – most famous for its bikes and recreational
drug use, this city is a popular pick amongst students. However, the city also
boasts some must-see museums and an extensive network of canals.
3.
Dublin – as the capital of the Republic of Ireland, the
city is an important political and cultural hub. Trinity College, the country’s
largest university, is home to a number of tourist attractions and a thriving
student community. The city also has a lively pub scene, and for any fans of
Guinness, the Guinness museum is obligatory on your tour of the city.
4.
Brussels – as the home of the headquarters of the
European Union, Brussels is a must for anybody interested in politics. However,
if you’re not such a political fiend, Belgium is the home of beer and waffles,
so enjoy!
5.
Milan – while Milan on the surface may look like
every other European, it’s home to a rich history and more importantly Da Vinci’s
“The Last Supper”. The city boasts an impressive nightlife scene and acres upon
acres of parkland, so you’ll never be stuck for something to do in this Italian
city.
